agreed; not as good as the old onesApr 05, 2010

I agree with the review above. Somehow they've changed the material (much lighter now) and also the design slightly. They do not go nearly as far in the water now and do not work nearly as well as the older version. Can someone tell us where to get the older kind these days?

We had purchased aqua skimmers in the past through a pool store. Being unable to locate them I turned to an internet search. No pictures or thorough description was available but enough info was there that I believed I was purchasing the same product. Unfortunately, even though they are close to what I was looking for and were the same name and came from the same manufacturer, the materials have changed. They do not skim the water the same way, distance is shorter, and they do not "stick" to the pool slice they way the old ones did. Our kids love playing a game on the slide with them and the new ones will just not stick. I would not have purchased them if I knew the material they were made from had changed.

I played with these while camping this summer and had a blast so I figured I'd buy some for my family and for Christmas gifts. What I didn't notice is these are made of a heavy foam material instead of the heavier and more durable plastic that the one I played with while camping was. This new one does not go as far since it is not as heavy and I'm wondering how durable they will be as time goes by.

The prior version of this toy was made from hard rubber and skimmed much better. These are too light and made from foam. Very disappointed.

We were replaceing our old Aqua Skimmers, which were so much fun to play with in the pool, but over the years were lost or beat up. The new ones are not made of the hard rubber like the old ones, but rather a light foam product. They do not skim at all because they are too lightweight. What a disappointment!
