Description:

Play Scrabble your way! Build and control your own board with real Scrabble play. Players build words on their boards simultaneously and score just like in standard Scrabble. But after each round, players have the option to choose a replacement letter from the bag or to select one of the 12 face-up tiles on the central podium. Another exciting feature is the wild tile each time one is played, that player must swap boards with an opponent. This is a great way to thwart an opponent's progress. When the tiles run out, the game ends and the player with the highest score wins. Includes: four individual Scrabble boards, four wood letter racks, 100 wood tiles, tile podium, cloth drawstring bag and instructions

3Interesting Adaptation of Scrabble, With Some DrawbacksAug 29, 2009
By Kevin Currie-Knight "Education Grad Student"
My wife and I purchased this game a few weeks ago and have played it several times. It is an interesting adaptation on Scrabble, where each person gets her own board, and everyone can see what tiles everyone picks. But, like most adaptations on well-worn games, this version of Scrabble has its pros and cons. So, here they are:

PROS: The fact that everyone can see which tiles everyone picks, and that everyone picks tiles at the same time, really adds to the strategy aspect of the game. (ONe can now choose which tiles one wants and hope that others don't get to those tiles first.) Also, the fact that each person is playing on their own board means that each person is no longer dependent on other people's words for bridges. ("If I play this word and choose this tile, I can build this word on my next turn.")

All of these changes make this new Scrabble Me Edition a much more strategic game that is less up to chance than the original Scrabble.

CONS: This game is much choppier than the original Scrabble. Rather than turn-taking (where one person creates a word, draws tiles, and then the other person...), Scrabble Me Edition has everyone taking their turn at the same time, and then choosing tiles at the same time. This leads to a choppy feel of everyone creating words for a few minutes, and then everyone drawing tiles for a few minutes.

Also, while it is interesting to have each person build on their own board, the downside to this is that the game lacks the "connective" feeling of Scrabble, where everyone builds on a communal board. In a way, it feels similar to everyone playing a seperate game of solitaire, but competing against eachother.

LONG AND SHORT: This game is very interesting if you are looking for a more cerebral and strategic version of Scrabble. The ability to see all of the tiles everyone picks (and see tiles before you pick them) adds a whole new strategic dimension. On the other hand, this version of Scrabble is also a bit choppier and lacks the "in it together" feel that makes board games really fun.

4Great Scrabble alternativeApr 08, 2009
By Linda "loves to read"
This is a great alternative to the regular scrabble game. There is always the risk of someone switching your individual board with their board which builds up the suspense. The game moves along a little quicker too.

5Scrabble MeJan 07, 2010
By Mr Magoo
This is a fun and refreshing game for Scrabble fans. It is fast, interactive, challenging and gives me the ghost of a chance at beating my Mom. I prefer playing this with 3 or more players because it moves faster and the board doesn't get as congested and frustrating. Funnily enough, I think it's the opposite of Super Scrabble which is longer and expansive - each has it's place and time.

5Fun Twist on Classic Game!Apr 21, 2011
By E. Kennedy
I've always been a big fan of scrabble and had to try this new version. I really liked this, it gave you a little more control over the game but the switching boards when a wild tile is played can really mix things up. Lots of fun and just like classic Scrabble it's great for helping kids, or adults, increase their vocabulary.

5ExcellentApr 17, 2010

I like the fact that you have your own individual board to count up the points. I bought this game just for family night. And let me tell you my family had a blast. This is a fun classic game with a twist.
